Maximizers: Accelerators are level one tanning products for people just beginning the indoor tanning process. These lotions are designed to help people achieve a base tan and usually contain a large amount of moisturizers because moisturized skin tans much better, faster and has the ability to hold tan longer. 

Intensifiers: These are level two tanning products for people who have reached a base tan and want to continue tanning. Unlike accelerators, maximizers do not contain high levels of moisturizers. For this reason it should only be applied directly before starting a tanning session. 

Bronzers: This feature is found in accelerators and maximizer lotions. It is a sunless self-tanner that is mixed into the lotion for instant results. The trick is to give the immediate illusion of bronzed skin while your skin underneath develops a tan and plays catch up. Tingle: This is a special type of lotion that many refer to as a level three product. However, some companies have different methods of naming the levels of their products. Tingle lotions contain ingredients that cause reddening and increase blood flow to the skin. They are available in heated and cooled formulas and act to speed up the repair process of skin causing it to tan faster. These lotions should not be used on sensitive skin. 

One of the primary purposes for using indoor tanning lotions is to moisturize the skin. This is because tanning (indoors or out) can dehydrate the skin so additional moisturization is needed to compensate and leave the skin looking smooth and healthy. One of the most popular moisturizing elements in tanning lotions is hemp seed oil; although other natural oils are also common. After a tan, out of the shower or anytime your skin craves moisture, apply as needed.

A substance that helps protect the skin from the sun's harmful rays. Sunscreens reflect, absorb, and scatter both ultraviolet A and B radiation to provide protection against both types of radiation. Using lotions, creams, or gels that contain sunscreens can help protect the skin from premature aging and damage that may lead to skin cancer. Always use a Sunscreen or SPF during outside activities. Do not use a sunscreen or SPF in a tanning unit as it is properly monitored for time & exposure.

The chemical compound Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is used in sunless tanning products in concentrations of 3%-5%. DHA concentration is adjusted to provide darker and lighter shades of tan. The reaction of keratin protein present in skin and DHA is responsible for the production of pigmentation.
